A recent research article shows women with higher levels of estrogen are less likely to die from the Covid virus and exhibit milder symptoms if they do become infected. While the numbers show that two thirds of the deaths from the virus occur in men, the mortality rate in women rises substantially after they reach thier fifties. The average age of menopause in Canada is 51 when estrogen levels rapidly decline. We already know that estrogen replacement protects against cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, colon cancer and diabetes and perhaps with more research we can add Covid-19 to that list as well!
